The Easy Way To Build Your Own Solar Panel
If you were able to build your own solar panel in your back garden can you imagine the amount of money you save in the long run? I can tell you the savings are huge, possibly into the thousands over several years. So here’s a quick guide to get you started.
Below I have listed the items that you will need, in no particular order:-
- Battery box
- Rechargeable 12 volt lead or acid battery
- 12-16 volt solar panel
- Inverter
- DC meter
- Drill
- You’re going to need the source a solar panel that is preferably over 12 vaults (16 is ideal), if you look hard and shop around you may well be able to find one for under a $100.
- Next you’re going to need a 12v acid or lead battery, this should be a deep cell battery which are robust and great for long-term use.
- An essential purchase would be to buy a battery box in order to protect yourself and if you have any small children from the battery itself.
- The fourth item you need is a DC meter that will match the voltage of your battery and also DC input. These two products will convert the energy that comes from the solar panel into a compatible source of power for your home.
- Now it’s time for some hard work! You’ll need to use the drill to attach the meter & DC input the top end of the battery box. Then you will need to use insulated wire and connect the DC meter to the battery.
- Finish up by closing the tight wait several hours and you should start to see those electricity bills get cheaper! Obviously this is a quick and dirty guide to making your own renewable energy source, if you’d like step-by-step instructions take a look at the Earth4Energy guide. It it goes into much more detail, and also has videos with step-by-step instructions on how to do this yourself.
